The paintings included in this summer show are a series of works that Iona has done from sketches of her Newlyn Studio and home in Lelant. They are a response to her busy family home and studio which she hails as her sanctuary. Unlike previous still life works, her more recent work explores a less minimal approach where she includes a lot more of her surroundings which she says gives the onlooker a greater perspective of her life. Her colour palette is as vibrant as ever allowing her to express her emotion and connection with her subject matter freely. Her brushstrokes are bold and loose as is her familiar style. The work fizzes with character and emotion which she states is her starting point.
