In this collection, Sophie explores places dear to her, working from plein air paintings and memories of walks and experiences. Using a range of media from oil to acrylic and pastels, Sophie celebrates the spirit of the places and the emotional atmosphere each conjures. As with the song, there is a sense of nostalgia and wistfulness as well as a deep love for these places which range from the Helford River in Cornwall to Luskentyre beach on the Isle of Harris in Scotland. As well as more recognisable landscapes, Sophie’s love of colour and paint has also led to abstract explorations on a sense of place, recreating the sensations of light and weather.
