nick praed
Born in the fishing town of Newlyn in 1974, Nick Praed grew up around the harbour and subsequently went to sea at the age of eighteen. His work deeply reflects his many experiences at sea working on the fishing boats and his love for that environment. Although not fishing anymore, he still continues to work at sea skippering a survey vessel and painting whenever time allows.
“The older wooden boats, especially the french and Scottish had the most beautiful hull shapes and I try to capture this against the sharp forms of the pier walls and masts.”
