The Autumn Collection: martin goold

Vast expansive Cornish landscape, where people have left architectural signs of industry, habitation and belief, have inspired my recent work. Into this evocative subject that has been a constant fascination for artists I have brought my long-held interest with poetic nocturnal atmosphere, and the mythology and symbolism of the moon. These new works exhibited with Summerhouse Gallery include two coastal landscapes with ruins of the tin mines that characterise the Cornish coast, here seen under a quiet mysterious moonlight. St Michaels Mount moonlit takes this iconic subject into a contemplative serene image; I think of it as a romance.
