I have drawn and created since first I could and wanted to be a painter after attending a Foundation in Art when I was 17 but somehow stumbled off to Film School instead, studied Animation under the supervision of the mighty Joanna Quinn and had my first baby...
Although I have always, always been creative, I found myself, as many do, ravelled in family life with barely enough time for anything, least of all a serious commitment to my second love(my first being ponies) and it is therefore only now, as my third child is nearly fully fledged, that I find myself free to be bound! I have 30 years of painting to catch up on and I intend to miss not one moment!
I awaken early and go into the shed and greet my paintings with a lilt of excitement in my belly. They wait for me, prepared for my clumsy, rusted, unconfident hand. Coaxing forth unformed, unspoken ideas .The marks I make excite me (apart from those that frustrate me)
I am inspired by dreams, stories, snippets and scraps of folk song and fairytale and my profound love of the natural world. I never quite know where the picture making process will take me in terms of narrative or the marks I make.
TO SUBMIT WORK TO THE SUMMERHOUSE GALLERY
Here at The Summerhouse we love to support both established and new, up and coming artists with an affinity to Cornwall. We do recieve a very large volume of submissions, and although we take care to view every artists work, it is very difficult to discuss work with every single artist who gets in touch.
Please send us a selection of work which you feel best represents you, along with an artists statement and a list of other galleries which represent your work if applicable. You can email this to email@example.com or post to our address, with contact details (email or telephone) which we can reach you via should your application be successful.
We look forward to hearing from you.
CURRENTLY CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK
We will be operating solely online during these uncertain times. Please email or call for enquiries
