Stevies love of Cornwall and its shores has inspired her work; growing up in the fishing village of Newlyn with its eclectic mix of busy fish market commerce and art culture.
Marrying a fisherman, Stevie became quite accustomed to handling fish. This series of work is inspired by the Gyotaku Japanese style of printwork.
Each peice is made using an exact print of an individual fish/form of oceanlife caught or found around Newlyn and Mounts Bay, and includes all the information from boat to plate; including the day it was caught, where it was caught and on what vessel, where it was subsequently sold and how it was served.
TO SUBMIT WORK TO THE SUMMERHOUSE GALLERY
Here at The Summerhouse we love to support both established and new, up and coming artists with an affinity to Cornwall. We do recieve a very large volume of submissions, and although we take care to view every artists work, it is very difficult to discuss work with every single artist who gets in touch.
Please send us a selection of work which you feel best represents you, along with an artists statement and a list of other galleries which represent your work if applicable. You can email this to firstname.lastname@example.org or post to our address, with contact details (email or telephone) which we can reach you via should your application be successful.
We look forward to hearing from you.
